I received my Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University! WHOOP! I then went to the University of Houston for Optometry school.
Vision is such an important aspect of life. What I love about optometry is that I have the opportunity to immediately improve a patient's quality of life by enhancing their vision. Not only do I get to help patients see better in their prescription, but I can monitor for and treat many ocular diseases such as Glaucoma, Diabetic Retinopathy, Keratoconus, Macular Degeneration, Dry Eye Disease, Ocular allergy and infections. I love being able to care for the health of such an important part of the body, and I find all of it extremely rewarding!
During a contact lens fitting, I always start by taking a careful look at the health of a patient's cornea. The cornea has no blood vessels and receives the majority of its oxygen from the atmosphere! Therefore, I always fit my patients in the most breathable, highest oxygen transmissible contact lens possible in order to achieve maximal comfort and preserve health. I check the fit of the contact lens on the eye, and then utilize extra lenses to ensure that my patient feels comfortable with their contact lens vision. I can make modifications based on lifestyle and any special visual demands that a patent may have.
I love to hike and explore trails! A Sunday morning hike followed by a craft coffee at any local joint sets me up for a great week!
